Gender-neutral fabrics disregard the idea that fabric is suitable for menswear or womenswear. Therefore, these fabrics may lack themes and are not restricted to particular fits and colors distinct from boys, girls, women and men. Gender-neutral fabrics are an excellent choice for expectant mothers, especially those who do not know the gender of their yet to be born babies. In such circumstances, making a themed quilt might be a tricky affair. Sticking to neutral designs for baby quilts or nurseries is a pretty practical option.

Neutrals are versatile and timeless; they not only cover white and black. If you choose gender-neutral fabrics for your baby quilts, here are the general tips:

Select bold colors – pastel colors are credible, and standard pastels for babies are periwinkle,  mauve, mint green, pink,  baby blue, peach, and lavender. But you can also go for bold orange, red, green, etc. These colors will look great for both boys and girls.

Go with simple patterns – patterns are timeless; they won't get out of fashion or style. Each season one or more patterns of fabric are the talks of the town.
